Medium paperback,
Barry Ronge is one of South Africa’s longest-serving and most beloved columnists. His Spit ’n Polish column in the Sunday Times provides South Africans with a much-needed giggle on a Sunday morning.
For the past 19 years, Barry has given us his take on life in South Africa and all its foibles, from crooked politicians to the criminal underworld, from high-class hookers to cats stuck up trees, all written with humour and verve.
This new book, the follow-up to the bestselling 2006 Spit ’n Polish collection, represents the best of the hundreds of columns written over the last few years and reflects again some of Ronge’s favourite topics such as pets, the peculiarities of the English language and, of course, Sandton kugels.
A must-have anthology for all Barry fans, this book is the perfect companion piece to the first Spit ’n Polish.
Spit ’n Polish / BARRY RONGE
Barry Ronge was born in Hillbrow and raised on the West Rand. He studied to be a teacher but after 13 years of exploring Jane Austen, Shakespeare and WB Yeats with students who would far rather have been exploring new release racks at record shops and each other, he switched career to become a journalist. He prefers movies to books and books to people, but prefers cats to all of the above.
